This audaciously titled, Italian made "unofficial sequel" to (read: cheap ripoff of) Ridley Scott's "Alien" is a low budget hoot. When a space capsule returns to Earth it inadvertently brings some nasty space spores into our atmosphere, which then spread around the planet attaching themselves to rocks. One of said rocks ends up in the backpack of a psychic cave explorer (don't ask) as she heads underground with a group of fellow spelunkers. When the critter inside it suddenly hatches and starts eating people's faces, all hell understandably breaks loose underground.
As usual with Italian horror flicks of this era, the gore is impressive, but the story, acting and dialogue -- not so much. Still a fun watch as long as you have a tolerance for B-Movie pain.
Useless trivia: legend has it that 20th Century Fox tried to sue the producers of this flick for stealing the "Alien" name, but the filmmakers were somehow able to convince a court that their film was not intended as a sequel to Ridley Scott's "Alien" but to a novel written in the 1930s by the same name. Yeah, suuuuuure.
