"THE STORY:

A man from a small town arrives in NYC to search for his daughter. He meets a songwriter who knows the girl-- her adventures in the big city are told in flashback.

Kate has modeling aspirations. She changes her name to "Kitty" and settles at the same boarding house where the composer (Dan) lives with his girl (Linda). Kitty's friend (Helen) tells her how easy it is to make a living in the alimony racket, by abetting frame-ups as a co-respondent. When Kitty can't find work as a model, Helen introduces her to a divorce lawyer (Burt) and he manufactures evidence by having Kitty photographed with a married man.

After working for the attorney a while, Kitty hatches her own scheme: to hook up with Dan, who's right on the verge of success. Dan leaves Linda after falling for Kitty, and writes a song for her that becomes a hit. He later returns to his ex; Kitty coerces him into allowing her to sing "their song" on his national tour. Dan again abandons Linda for Kitty, but when the royalty checks dry up she dumps him. For a second time, Dan returns to the long-suffering Linda.

Kitty marries a millionaire and her attorney friend runs the usual scam on the man by photographing him with another woman. When the divorce case goes to trial, some surprise evidence is revealed.

ALPHA VIDEO is a provider of vintage movies, serials and TV programs, many of which aren't available elsewhere. Their prices are fair, but so is transfer quality of some of their offerings. None have undergone restoration, yet the market scarcity of their material and an honest price make these DVDs a worthwhile purchase.

A related ALPHA item:

In the light-hearted comedy MISBEHAVING HUSBANDS (1940), department store owner Harry Langdon tries to convince his divorce-minded wife that the blonde she saw him with was only a window mannequin.
