Of all of the baby Einstein series DVDs, my son loved this one the most. It kept him alternating between mesmerized and laughing.

"The good things about this DVD are:1. The animals
2. The farm scenes, especially the ones that show the various methods of ploughing the fields.
3. The puppet skits don't repeat the same thing over and over again.
4. The Old MacDonald song
5. The song set to the Farmer in the Dell tune.
6. The pigs sliding into the mud puddle.
7. Has some good extras and not just flash cards and toy lists. The not-so-good things about this DVD:1. Too much of the music is slow, when it should be upbeat. Why plough to a lullaby?
2. Younger children like it, but it's not easy adult viewing. This DVD puts me to sleep.
3. Some of the content is for babies, some for toddlers, but as a whole it doesn't hold the interest over 24 months. My son is now too old for the Baby Einstein series, and it's time to move on. It's been a great three years, and definitely essential viewing for children.Thank you Baby Einstein, and goodbye."

"Baby MacDonald: A Day on the Farm is a multiple award-winning DVD that's a fun-filled introduction to the sights and sounds of a farm. Featuring live-action images of farms and farm animals interspersed with engaging visuals of puppets, children, toys, and real-world objects, it combines traditional nursery rhymes with the classical music of Schubert, Schumann and Strauss. This DVD has a calming effect on your baby while stimulating their early verbal skills. It's appropriate for introduction to baby around the age of 9 months but will continue to entertain through their second year.
Most of the videos in the Baby Einstein series are designed as `video board books' for your baby and offer you the opportunity to interact with your child in the same way you do with books as well as act as a distraction for that deeply needed parental bathroom break. Most of the DVDs have the option to "play" or "repeat play" and are about 20-30 minutes in length -- the repetition being very stimulating and comforting to the younger set.
While I don't think viewing Baby Einstein DVDs will make my infant "smarter" she sure does enjoy them! They give me a great way to interact with her as well as a few minutes here and there to get a few things done around the house. Their ability to calm her when she's fussy is already legendary in our household.
Here is information on all the current 21 Baby Einstein DVDs including suggested times to introduce them to your little one. This information IS NOT available with the DVD sets but I gleaned it from several sources for my own use. You may like to print this out for future reference.
Note: All the Baby Einstein DVDs are "region 1" which means they only play on machines in the U.S. and Canada.

"This is one of my top five DVD's in the Einstein series. It has an absolutely dreamy, breathtaking, peter-pan fly-over of a farm that goes on forever. Fantastic shots of cows, old farmhouses, and the requisite sing along that inspires my babies to harmonize. It's a guilty pleasure that I love to watch just as much as my three kids. God Bless Julie Clark for this series. I hope she got rich off of it."
Farm animal, tractors and singing...what's not to love.

"We purchased Baby McDonald for our 14 month old son. The movie it filled with farm animals, tractors, singing and puppet shows. We love it. Our son was repeating the animal sounds, laughing at the puppet shows, dancing to the music and singing E-I-E-I-O. He loves going to Grandpa's farm but that is 2 1/2 hours away so this a great substitute. We have all of the Baby Einstein movie, they're all great but I think we may have found a new favorite. A must have for kids who love animals."
Baby Kendall 9 months old loves the farm.

"Our daughter is a very active child and we have found it trying at times to settle her before bed. We had been advised to try controlled crying but it seemed we were fighting a loosing battle. One screaming night I convinced my wife to put on Baby Einstein McDonalds Farm. Within minutes of putting the disc on Kendall had started to settle down and watch the movie. She started by standing up in her cot, then sat down, then layed down and fell asleep still watching it. Now when we put her to be she will stand in her cot and yell till we put on McDonalds Farm when she then sits down and ends up falling asleep within 15 minutes. She adores the puppets and music and you can see she is genuinely captivated with the mixture of sight and sound. I would recommend this product to anyone with an active child since it has proven so helpful for us."
