Entertaining despite many tropes that would now be considered cliche. Moorehead and Price carry the film through a plot that doesn't waste much time getting started. Probably the most interesting part about the film is the fact that the women are presented as capable and intelligent in the face of being terrorized by 'The Bat' - even when they know he is in their home and they are locked in a room! Too often, women in old horror movies are presented as useless or incapable of rational thought - not so with the Bat. It's possible that this film was a predecessor to 'Murder she Wrote?'
