Two good movies!
Billy Bathgate - I thought Billy Bathgate was a little bit better than Blaze. Dustin Hoffman played a character I never would have thought to see him portray; a very ruthless mob boss. The movie has many very intense scenes. Well worth watching especially if you like 1930's mob movies. There's a few violent scenes, so beware.
Blaze - While some reviews I read about this movie say it's about aging, controversial Louisiana Governor Earl Long, it's more like two stories in one. It's based on a book titled "Blaze Starr: My Life as Told to Huey Perry." Set in the 1950's, it tells the story of of how Fannie Belle Fleming, aka Blaze Starr, wanted to be a singer and ends up a stripper. She eventually crosses paths with Earl and they begin an affair. The story follows their relationship and his controversial career as governor. Blaze was a real person and just passed away in 2015. The movie is based on actual events, although I don't know how much of the movie was fictionalized. Fans of Lolita Davidovich will enjoy seeing her topless and Paul Newman does a good job of portraying Earl.
