Interesting, But Not What I Thought I Was Buying

"I bought this DVD thinking that it was a "Greatest Hits" type collection of performances -- but instead it was retrospective/tribute to Billy Connolly -- with a few bits of his live performances sprinkled throughout. There is about half an hour of standup at the end - but it's really not Billy's best stuff. As a documentary, it's very, very good. Eddie Izzard, Parkinson, Dustin Hoffman, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, Dame Judi Dench and Billy, himself, turn up in interviews here.
But don't buy it if you are wanting to just see his standup."

"An interesting biography piece with excerpts from his stand up routines, if you're not interested in hearing what Dustin Hoffman, whoppie Goldberg, Robin Williams and others have to say about Billy I would recommend just getting the "Greatest Hits" DVD, but if you want to know more about the man behind beard this is a comical and interesting look at him."
Better than nothing

"A very nice documentary that offers some delicious and rare clips of Connolly, along with a rare chat with his wife. It offers great insight into the bulk of his career, but there are some mistakes (like the reason he's called 'Big Yin'), and Robin Williams' parts were difficult to watch (he seems arrogant, and makes unfunny jokes), and Eddy Izzard looked sticky and seemed slightly uppity.
Beyond that, it's fantastic. Parkinson, Pamela, Judi Dench, Hoffman, Goldberg, and Connery were great for this. It's definitely a keeper."
