Movie Reviews

A&E does a great Rick Biography!
lej | Chicago, IL United States | 08/22/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Great overview of Rick Springfield's career, high & low life points. Can see clips of concerts, touch of his wife & kids (3 more beautiful people) & his wonderful interaction with his fans. I love this VHS - have bought 2 (1 is a gift). If you're even considering it, ie. reading this - then BUY IT NOW. Great if you want the basics about Rick plus some Rick entertainment; a must if you're a fan. Win win all the way. Rick sings You Better Love Somebody - this video will make you love Rick Springfield!"
A & E Biography - Adorable & Energetic

"Really a must for any Rick Springfield fan. You get to hear Rick tell you about Rick and his background, life, insecurities, triumphs and reactions. You get to hear Rick (and see him) sing, give fans the "human touch", - it's great. Have to go buy a new vcr to watch it again - mine broke. If you're interested in Rick, his music, a bit of his biography- buy it today."
A good effort, but too much info is missing

"I realize this biography was made in 2000, so when I say "missing", I'm not referring to stuff that's happened since then. After a very-detailed account of Springfield's early life, I was diappointed that not as much attention was given to his years as a pop star. Oh, the high points are there: "Jessie's Girl," General Hospital, the death of Rick's dad. But the documentary completely omits his 1983 and 1985 albums (Living in Oz and Tao, respectively), and gives very little time to his 1984 big-screen debut in Hard to Hold.

I'm a longtime fan, and I have to admit that even I learned a few tidbits that I didn't know. And casual fans probably won't be bothered by the omissions here. Still, the price is kinda steep for a 50-min. program with no additional features. A collection of music videos would have been a nice touch.
