Crude-looking; fine for small kids. But beware of ads!

"My four-year-old loves this DVD. It's very colorful, and the shallow story is simple enough for him to follow. Animation quality is mediocre, only slightly better than current Saturday morning fare (though the backgrounds are nice).
The worst feature is the introduction, which features over 10 minutes of commercials for other DVDs. You cannot use the MENU button to skip these advertisements! You have to fast-forward over them manually. THIS IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I've made a copy disc to eliminate this problem, but most users will have to sit through the obnoxious spam ads over and over again. BAD PUBLISHER. NO DONUT.

"I got this movie for a long car trip. My 3 year old had never seen it and I thought she would be interested as I assumed the colors would be bright and characters cute. Oh My Goodness, she watched the movie 8 times in a row (9 total in one day). She will watch and laugh and acts as if it is the first time she has seen it. It was a sanity saver for us."

"I bought this for my two year old daughter. She wants to watch it over and over. My five year old son also likes to watch it. I think it is attractive to kids because of the bright colors and catchy songs."
Great for the under 5 crowd!

"When I first got this, my girls (ages 4 and 1) LOVED it. It was always in the car's DVD player. The songs are cute, the animation is colorful and the characters are easy for kids to relate with. Now that my older daughter is 5 1/2 she is begining to outgrow it. She thinks it is "babyish" - but I notice she never objests when her sister picks it.
It has a good message, too. Responsibility and inner beauty. The main character (a little boy gingerbread) has to travel to the castle with his "special gift" for the great candy celebration. He encounters all of the well-known Candyland characters along the way and escapes from the evil Lord Licorice. He makes it to the castle only to find that the special gift is him! It is not complicated. There are no hidden jokes for Mom & Dad, no inuendo, nothing at all offensive. It is a very cute movie and if it gets your kids to play Candyland even more - GREAT!"
