Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo Hellblazer graphic novels and written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello, Constantine tells the story of John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), a man who has literally been to hell and back. When ... more »he teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.DVD Features:
Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, Shia LaBeouf and others are solid in this really put together demon, end of the world style drama. The out of this world CGI was ahead of its time as was the really well played out actors that fit their roles. A must for Demon, Apocalypse, Supernatural, Keanu, Good vs. Evil fans!

A great movie. What I like to call a popcorn film. Which means that it won't win an oscar but it will definitely be a favorite for years to come. Keanu manages to make a name for himself outside of The Matrix and Point Break. I would definitely recommend this for those who respect my opinion.

Always a fun movie. Great characters with plenty of depth. Just enough special effects to really get you into it.

When I first heard about this film I was kind of looking forward to it. John Constantine is one of DC's more interesting characters. A supernatural con artist. When I learned that Keanu Reeves was to play the role I knew it was going to fail. In the comic the character is a blond haired blue eyed englishman. Keanu does not fit the part.
The film has an interesting visual style, but for every thing it gets right it sabotages itself with some pure Hollywood garbage. Shia LeBeouf is horrible. His character is pointless. Rachel Weisz delivers an interesting performance, but loses coherence about half way through the film. The plot is a mess. The effects seem rushed.

This actually wasn't too bad. The storyline was easy to follow, Keanu Reeves was really good.

A faithful adaptation of the graphic novels...apart from John Constantine not being a Brit! This is an excellent movie, with the highlight being Djimon Hounsou's performance as Papa Midnight. It won't change your life, but it will be worth two hours of it.

Meh. An OK movie, though I would not go out of my way to watch it again. Rachel Weisz does excellent work, as usual. Keanu does his standard wooden schtick. Peter Stormare (Fargo bad guy) as Satan was a good choice, though this isn't his best work. Shia LaBoeuf was a bit strained in his role of comic relief and mostly just forgettable.
Two things I liked the most about this movie:
1. Tilda Swinton as the androgenous and spectacular Archangel Gabriel.
2. The line about "God is like a kid with an ant farm. He doesn't really have a plan".
Other than that, the CGI is mediocre at best. Can recommend this movie for one viewing, then passing it on.

John Constantine is gifted (or cursed) to see the demons among us. His job is to send them back from whence they came. Until he meets a police detective whose twin sister's death and her own long-hidden secret may hold the key to stopping the son of the Devil from arising. This is a good film, the special effects are incredible and Keanu Reeves suits his role very well. Rachel Weisz and Shia LaBeouf both shine in their roles. I was also pleasantly surprised at the acting talents of Gavin Rossdale. If you like action flicks, without much romance, you should enjoy this film.

This is a new DVD... It has been opened and only used to be copied.
I bought it on 3/9/08
Reeves is out to fight evil, he was born with the knowladge, LaBeouf is his trusty side kick, in which he gives great comic relif too.
Weisz (the mummy movies) is trying to save her twin from the deamons and needs Constantines help.
Great jump out and get ya movie

"Not sure about the biblical references but movie-wise, I like it. It was unpredictable which is good, there were twists and turns, the tension was there throughout the movie, nice special effects, so it's a good movie overall. I would watch it again if I could."
Good movie, quit nitpicking

"It's a good movie, great effects, the characters all seem real, there is drama, action and some funny parts. MINOR SPOILERS: You get the usual complaints in other reviews: "i dont understand why the spear was in a nazi flag"... anyone who has heard of occult artifacts has heard that hitler was supposed to have been looking for the spear. yes they could have spelled out every occult reference and made the movie an hour longer or you can just enjoy it. "why did the cop's sister know constantine's name?" she's psychic for one, they met in hell and half of hell knows him not to mentioned that her sister who she is linked to becomes his companion! if i have to explain why angels can fly when their body weight would be too heavy for their wings i'm gonna puke. You aren't supposed to dissect it. It's a movie not a documentary."
