"This review refers to "Daniel Boone - High Cumberland parts 1 and 2" - on DVD
This 2 parter takes us back to the beginning. It goes way back in time and tells the story of how Dan'l lead a wagon train of adventurers to a new land. It's also the story of how he met and fell in love with Rebecca and became best freinds with Mingo.
Daniel Boone(Fess Parker) has found what is considered the promised land. It's in Kain-Tuck(Kentucky to you city slickers). As he guides the wagons through the dangers of the wild and untamed land, the new settlers, including good ol Cincinattus(who looks much younger in this episode,) learn that although it may seem like a paradise on earth, there are also many dangers to contend with. Along the way, they make a stop to order food and supplies for the coming winter. Also Rebecca has been wounded by an arrow and is left in the town to heal, with the promise that Dan'l will be back for her when he returns for the supplies.
But complications set in. The supplier of the goods is unscrupulous, and Rebecca meanwhile has gotten herself engaged to someone else. It's up to our guy Dan'l to secure the supplies, get them back to the new settlement before winter sets in - and meets with much danger along the way - and of course make things right with Rebecca. It's a tall order for one guy but hey if Daniel Boone can't do it nobody can!
It's a wonderful 2 parter, good for the entire family, that if viewed in one sitting is like watching a feature film(about an hour and a half).Oh and here is a famous face to watch for western lovers - Pedro Armendariz Jr.! If you are looking for just a few special episodes, this a a really good one, but it does come in the season 2 set - it is the last 2 episodes on disc 7. Another nice two parter sold separatly is:Daniel Boone - Cain's Birthday, Parts 1 & 2(included in season 1)
Daniel Boone is one of those classic tv series that stands the test of time.It is great family fare and values, and will be enjoyed for many generations - aren't we lucky to be able to view them now on DVD.
"Daniel Boone was a man, yes a biiig man, with an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he......"
Enjoy...Laurie

"These series are a breath of fresh air. Thanks for bringing forth such wholesome entertainment.
These movies are great! The morality and scruples that these shows teach is hard to find in todays Entertainment world of Sex, Drugs and anti Christian agenda of todays Hollywood.
Thanks again, and keep shows like these coming. I will buy them all.
