From the creators of Red Dwarf, and the dialogue here is really just a stone's throw from the former. Have watched this one several times now, when the hankering strikes. Really wish they'd made more than the handful of episodes they did (only 5), as there is some great mud-filled, dirty-faced facetiousness to be had.

Light hearted and funny look at the comimg of the millenium

(3 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this DVD on a whim, having never seen it or heard of it before. Although the entire series is only two hours long and there are no special features of any kind on the two DVDs, I was not disappointed with the show itself. The year is 999 A.D. and the people of Sludgebrook, Englaland (that's how they spell it) are worried that the world will come to an end on New Year's Eve. This is the story of their adventures and mishaps on the last few weeks of the year.Disc One contains the first three episodes: Vile Vole Pie, Vikings, and War. Here we meet the people of Sludgebrook, see them use the Vikings as a distraction from the coming end of the world, and finally watch them go to war with the Vikings when they actually show up.Disc Two contains episodes 4 & 5: Witch and The End of the World. In these last two installments, a woman in the town is accused of witchcraft when the town's possessions disappear and New Year's Eve comes...and goes.If you like British Humor (Monty Python and Red Dwarf), check this out. I would suggest buying the set instead of the two individual discs because you'll want to watch them all!"
Poor Quality DVD Set -Good Program Content

"I really like this brief series, however the quality of the DVD's is quite poor, especially considering this series was not recorded all that long ago. To compare -I have a 7 year old Fawlty Towers VHS set that has better picture and sound quality (and that show is from the 1970's)!"
