"Enge's fans will enjoy this 1997 DVD as he, his wife and English friends reminisce about his career. Most of it is filmed at his homes in LA (recently demolished by its new owner) and Leicester where he also takes you on a drive to see his childhood neighborhood and that famous "1st date" park. Of special interest are rare films of his 1st TV appearances in the UK & US. Enge's commentaries about the songs shown during rehearsals and his 1995 LA Forum concert give you insight into how he creates such great music. Even though 10 years old this is one you don't want to miss and it is playable in the US."
3 Decades of Engelbert

"This biographical DVD is an excellent overview of Engelbert's long career spanning the years 1967 through 1997 (and he's still going strong with tours and recordings to this day). There are plenty of songs interspersed with interviews and a tour of Leiscester, where he grew up, and now owns a huge home. His tour of the town includes the famous park where he had his first date, amusingly described in his autobiography, and mentioned here.
There is also footage of the now sold Beverly Hills mansion, nicknamed "The Pink Palace" which was formerly owned by Jayne Mansfield. There are interviews with friends and his wife Patricia (who looks stunning) but mostly it's Engelbert who talks about his life, his will to make it in the music business, the struggles to get there, and the songs he has chosen.
Among the songs you'll get to hear in part are 3 from the marvelous 1995 recording sessions and concert with master arranger/conductor Bebu Silvetti: "Love is a Many Splendored Thing," "The Shadow of Your Smile," and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" (these were released in the beautiful "Love Unchained" CD), "I Could Get Used to This," "Too Young," the original breakthrough performance of "Release Me," "The Last Waltz," "A House is Not a Home" from his 1st appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, "After the Lovin', " "Quando, Quando, Quando," "Ain't Nothin' Just a Little Lovin' Won't Cure," "If I Could Love You More," and it ends with a late '90s version of "Release Me."
This is a terrific DVD every Engelbert fan is guaranteed to enjoy; it has nice clear footage and sound quality, is 48 minutes in length, and as the narrator states, Engelbert is "One of the best friends a romantic ballad ever had."

"One of the greatest vocalist of all times. What a voice, personality, and looks. Making him so complete. What a joy to listen to and watch. He has certainly made his mark in history. His story is a real life cinderella story. I highly recomend it."

"I grew up hearing Englebert and as an adult I've come to really appreciate this talent man. I really didn't know much about the man nor how he got to be as popular as he is now. I bought this dvd for my parents to watch and ended up watching it with them. It brought back a lot of memories for them and we all enjoyed seeing what his homes look like and my parents were very impressed at what an educated and intelligent man he is. I enjoyed the dvd more then I ever imagined I would and it was so nice to share it with my parents."
