"If you're a Connery fan, this is great deal.
Family Business is a really good movie, with it's cast, how could it not be.
First Knight, though entertaining, was a bad mix of casting, which is not to say any of the actors do a poor job. Connery is playing King Arthur, and Julia Ormond as Gwen. Not to say the acting or plot is bad, but Connery, even with good make up and toupee is old enough to be Gwen's grandfather, Gere, as Lancealot is old enough to be her father. It's just more Hollywood using younger actresses as the object of desire, without recognizing an older man can work, but an old man is just lecherous. So the creep factor and implausibility of age to relationship kind of ruins the film.
Which brings us to the main reason I bought this set. Robin and Marion.
Now there may be an age difference between Sean & Audrey, but not too much, so their romantic relationship is believable.
This film answers a question that many of us had never thought of. What happened to Marian? We all knew Robin would get his land, reputation and title back and it was likely he'd follow his king, probably back to the holy land for the Crusades. So what did Marian do? Get married to Robin and keep hearth warm for his return, or follow him to the holy land? I am not one to include a spoiler in my reviews as many others do. If you want to know more about the plot, you might want to go to the DVD's reviews.
But suffice it to say if you'd thought about how the love story aspect of Robin Hood and how it had been, few would have thought about this scenario. The film is well directed, well written and well acted. It's probably my third favorite non Bond Connery film and who doesn't love Audrey, even as an aging actress, she remains desirable and an interesting person with how she makes her mark on any character she plays.
This three pack, for me anyway, was cheaper than just buying Robin & Marion alone which makes it a great value."
