Movie Reviews

Very cool
Fish | Water | 11/08/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you are looking for a Hi Def exploration of Mountains, you will be disappointed. HD Moods Mountains is basically a "Living Wallpaper". there are 8 falls and 5 hike scenes and all are in "SHARP" high def. when they say Ultra Sharp, they are not kidding. there are some slight frame rate issues when they show water flowing, but overall "Falls" is very cool. "Hike" is also sharp. it is like you sat down in the middle of a trail in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest and listened.

As far as audio...choose "natural" or play your own music. the others are just creepy synth music.

For the price it is a good buy.

If you are looking for Hi Def exploration you need to try Over Alaska and Planet Earth BBC.

HD Moods Mountains, Bluray

"HD moods Mountains Bluray'

I am an outdoor enthusiast and videographer that does enjoy a beautifully setup landscape type movie or video. This was without a doubt the most disappointing Bluray title I have purchased to date. This Bluray title was very dark with faded color (no pop) and of mostly boring content.

The reason I purchased this DVD was to see HD video of the cover picture (which looks very much like Mt Rainier) but no such luck. In fact, the video looked to have been shot from some backwoods road on a cloudy day of boring content that anyone could do. And further more, the two scenes that did have the potential to be very nice were instead ruined. One scene of a very nice majestic waterfall that had the potential to be quite beautiful but was wasted by the fact it was shot it on dark "colorless", rainy day. The other potentially great shot was of a large glacial mountain that would have been stunning with either an early morning rising sun or a late day setting sun "for Color and contrast" but instead it was so "blown out" with bright midday sun that there was only high contrast with no color. Clearly they didn't want to take the time to get either good content or correctly setup the two good shots they had.

Very unprofessional!

A Private Forest

"There are mountains shots with watefalls, and one or two beautiful rocky mountain-like vistas with clouds, but mainly this is a shady, dappled-light forest retreat.

Amazing shots of light fading thru ferns, quiet forests, waterfalls, streams, rocks. Near perfect composition. All the water shots are facing upwards or towards the source of water which is important so you aren't mentally trying to see where it comes from. I think this is pretty much a perfect buy. Whom ever shot it was a calm person with a good eye - a person who understands, subconsciously or not, how the fung shui energy of a shot can relax you if facing the proper direction and angle - because if done wrong it is annoying and irksome - which is the opposite of relaxing. However, he or she that shot this bluray it did it wonderfully right.

If you dream of being alone in the perfect quiet of an untouched forest listening to all the natural (non-irritating) sounds, or love a rushing stream strewn with large rocks, this is for you. Value-wise, worth 50 dollars, it was a steal for 10 bucks at Cosco. I own a lot of ambiance/nature, supposidly-relaxing dvds. This one is worthy of the description "Peace and Tranquility". It makes you feel as if you are totally alone in your own private retreat.

Each shot easily lasts long enough for you to immerse yourself in the envirornment without being rushed to the next one.

It is by far the best of the four "HD Moods" series, and recommended without any reserver whatsoever."
