What an appropriate movie for Memorial Day!

But definitely not a film for the faint of heart.

Desmond Doss' story is remarkable, and Mel Gibson does a good job of tracing Doss' history with violence from its early beginnings to its heroic outcome.

Be prepared for graphic violence, from Doss' boyhood to the Army training camp to the World War II battlefield scenes (which seemed a bit extended to me).

The movie adds a sweet love story and a testament to unwavering faith to the heroism. And the clips of Doss and his Army buddies at the end wrap up a very good film.

The beginning was slow with the wife. The action was intense and not for the weak at heart. It would have been a high rating if not for the slow beginning. Definitely worth a watch for the war fan and seeing a true patriot true story! Of Desmond Doss's own heroics, he remained characteristically modest giving all the credit to his God. Doss said, "I was praying the whole time. I just kept praying. Lord, please help me get one more."

This is a great adventure, romance and action of the World WAr 2 war hero and winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor by Desmond Doss who risks his life to save many others. Mr. Doss is a Christian and a conscientious objector who was working in the Norfolk Naval Shipyards but he chose to serve as a conscientious objector on active Duty asa medical corpsman. Desmond repeatedly put his life in danger to rescue other soldiers. Desmond Doss is a real hero, the best ever.
