The Phantom of the Opera (1962) - Great potential but missed the mark.
Brides of Dracula - Classic Dracula with Peter Cushing!
The Curse of the Werewolf - Old School Werewolf but slow to today's CGI standards!
Night Creatures - Classic old school terror!
Paranoiac - Black and White Suspenseful Terror!
The Kiss of the Vampire - Great colors and costumes for an old vampire movie!
Nightmare - Black and White Unsuspecting Terror!
The Evil of Frankenstein - Pretty decent but Frankenstein's head looked a bit cheesy and homemade!

I received this set last week in the mail and I held my breath while I put the first disc in the blu ray player. I was hesitant because in the world of standard definition DVDs, the color rendering on these classics was not always the best. As you may know, Hammer Films was well known for their beautiful Technicolor photography and a lot of the color was often lost in the translation to DVD......but NOT on these blu ray discs!
The color here is absolutely beautiful! Deep, rich vibrant colors and super clarity and sharpness populates every film on this set! A few real incredible standouts are EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA....especially PHANTOM where stage costumes are shown in all their glory and infinite detail. EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN's lab scenes are beautiful with various color liquids displayed in beakers and fine detail in the monster's face and Hammer's sprawling sets. If you are a Hammer Films fan and haven't ordered this set as of now, you are really missing a true presentation of these classic films and, dare I say it, these look even better in this format than having seen these in theaters back in the 1960's.
This is highly recommended.
