This 1990 light-intensity workout, designed for beginning exercisers over 40, is extremely simple: many repetitions of marching in place, walking forward and back, step-touches, and low kicks. Leslie Sansone, chipper and c... more »ute, leads a 20-minute low-impact routine, with a five-minute warm-up and a five-minute cool-down. The workout is quite repetitious: you might march for more than 100 beats, broken up only by a few arm variations. Then you might kick 32 times. Considering all the workout videos Sansone has made, it's annoying that she cues her own left and right rather than yours (you're facing her, therefore her right is your left) and she incessantly chants the wrong "right, left, right, left." This video is for beginning exercisers who wish to keep the intensity low and don't get bored repeating the same four moves for half an hour. --Joan Price« less

"Purchasing Leslie Sansone's Walk Aerobics 40-Plus Workout has been one of the best decisions I have made. It's refreshing and encouraging to see that those participating on the video are of different shapes and sizes, and different levels of fitness, instead of 'body beautiful'. The exercises are easy to perform and at 30-35 minutes in length the workout is not too long. Being overweight, over 50 and out of condition, I am happy to find a workout that I can actually perform comfortably and feel enervated afterwards, and now motivated to exercise daily. I have now purchased several other videos in the series. I recommend this video to anyone who is not interested or does not have the time to go to the gym, doesn't want to pound the pavements and wants an easy-to-perform exercise routine that will greatly improve one's overall fitness level, have fun and burn calories at the same time."
Not as good as "Two-mile Walk" video

"I bought this video to alternate with the Leslie Sansome "Two-mile Walk" video I already own. I'm middle-aged and overweight, but I found this video not only too easy, but not very interesting to use. An excercise tape has to hold up to hundreds of uses without becoming mind-numbingly boring, and this one doesn't cut it. But if, like me, you aren't in very good shape and not very coordinated, you'll probably like Leslie Sansome's "Two-mile Walk." It's more attractive (a mural in the background of a serene harbor gives you something to look at the zillionth time you go through the tape), and a little more fun. By showing a gauge on screen of how far you've walked by doing the tape, you also get a sense of progress and a desire to make it to the next milestone. I will definitely try other Leslie Sansome video tapes, though, because I like her friendly and encouraging screen presence very much, and appreciate the way she gives advance warning when she changes steps."
A great workout tape for beginners and intermediate levels

"This is a great tape especially for the non dancey types. It is perfect for beginners. For those on an intermediate or even advanced levels, it is WONDERFUL for those off days when you don't want to do a very difficult workout. It is not only for 40+ but for anyone. It is effective and helped me lose the last 15 pounds. It is an EXCELLENT buy."

"This is a great exercise video. Very easy to follow, but yet a good workout. I enjoy it every time. It has gotten me back into exercise videos because I can actually do it and feel like I'm getting a good workout. In fact, I have ordered two more of Leslie's videos so I can alternate. I definitely recommend this one."
Great workout in about 20 minutes

"This is one of my favorite of Leslie's exercise videos and I have quite a few. I was a little skeptical because of the name (40+ workout); I thought it might be easier or slower, but I was wrong. It moves at a good pace (not too fast though) to get the heart pumping and is a lot of fun to do. Leslie is her usual chipper self, laughing and kidding the group. I probably do this one (and the Miracle Mile another favorite but shorter one) more than any of the others. If this one ever wore out I would definitely have to replace it."
