"Here is a complete episode list for season five. "Little House" is a touching family show, and I watched it every day when I was growing up in the 1980s, rerun after rerun. Great Season, Sub-par DVD transfer, Horrible Editing

"Little House on the Prairie was really moving along when it reached season 5. Matthew Laborteaux was added as Albert who really added some depth and dimensions to the show, especially after Mary loses her sight and moves to Winoka.

The quality of the DVD for some of the episodes, as indicated by other reviewers, ranges from good, to okay, to down-right horrible. I've collected a number of television DVDs, and I have to say that this is by far the worst one in terms of quality. I mean, how difficult is it to transfer it over correctly? No one else seems to have had the trouble that Imavision has had.

Another note is that the editing is horrific. Little House episodes always went to commercial breaks with the classic "fade out." You'll note in a many of these episodes, there is an immediate cut from a scene. Unfortunately, these episodes are NOT complete. There are many parts missing in various episodes. I know that these scenes are not "lost" or "missing," because I saw them just the other day when the show was on a television network.

Understand that my complaints are due to the lack of quality that has been put into this DVD rather than with a show that I grew up with and loved to watch every week.

I can only hope that enough complaints may prompt NBC to put out the kind of DVDs that they are known for. You would think they would have put more effort toward one of the best family shows of all time.

I encourage anyone who is unhappy with their product to e-mail imavision and let them know. Perhaps with enough response, they might one day be prompted to giving us a truly complete season.

Note: It seems that most of the TV series that are released through NBC Home Entertainment are edited. These include Little House, Cosby Show, and Highway to Heaven from what I've seen and possibly others."

By far the best DVD release for the series......

"Little House on the Prairie is on its 5th season at last for the DVD's, and I have to say that Goldhil has been taking it up a notch with each season release--they keep getting better and better! At last, in addition to scene selection, season-appropriate cover art and a good navigation menu, we are finally getting some extras. Two exclusive interviews are provided on this set: one from Alison Arngrim (Nellie) and the other from Dabbs Greer (Reverend Alden). Both have grown a great deal over the years but they look and sound exactly the same--aside from the short hair, Arngrim genuinely has not changed a bit! She still has that Nellie Oleson "glow"! =) What they have to say on these inteviews is very interesting and will be thoroughly enjoyed by any fans--how fun to see a bit of the cast as they appear today!These interviews were quite a surprise to see on the DVD's, especially since I hadn't heard anything about them beforehand, and they are a nice touch to the DVD collection. The episodes, of course, are fantastic as well; from the Ingalls family's return to Walnut Grove to their adoption of Albert to Mary's wedding and other fun and often touching events, these 5th season shows hit at just the right frequency. This point in the series was probably the most pivotal, with Mary's recent entrance into blindness and the Ingalls' decision to take in little Albert as a member of their family. Their friends the Garveys also assume a larger role here, but for them their real trials arrive in Season 6. As for the visual and audio quality on this season set....that whole concept never bothered me at all, because we all know that the DVD's look and sound 50 times better than they ever did on television, but I did notice that a few episodes (particularly "The Cheaters") looked almost black and white at times. I never noticed that before, but I did here. It is not a big deal and should be fine for most, but I know that some fans are affected by the color and picture. Regardless, I think I speak for a lot of fans when I say THANK YOU for releasing Season 5 with some extras and continuing with the great improvements. If there is any DVD TV series to collect, "Little House" is most certainly the one!"

"The show is great, and the extras are a great addition to the DVD. It's moving to see that dear old Dabbs Greer (Reverend Alden). And Allison Arngrim is so funny! The interviewer, Patrick Loubatiere, did a great job."

"This was one of the best seasons yet. I have seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8. I am soon to get 6, 7, and 9. If you are a fan you don't need me to tell you how great this series is. So this is what this season contains.

AS LONG AS WE'RE TOGETHER (2 PARTS)-Poor economic conditions cause the Ingalls to move closer to Mary who is now teaching at the Blind school in Winoka. Charles befriends Albert an orphan, who Laura catches stealing from the hotel they manage.

THE WINOKA WARRIORS-A blind student feels that he is useless and is reluctant to participate in school. He gains self-confidence when he joins the football team and becomes the quarterback.

THE MAN INSIDE-Amelia, Laura's new friend is ashamed of her overweight father. He works at the blind school were the students are very fond of him. Laura learns an important lesson when she ridicules him with the other children in her class.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME(2 PARTS)-The Ingalls_along with Albert, the Garvey's and the Oleson's tire of the bustling city and decide to return to Walnut Grove. They discover that the town has been severly neglected since they have been gone. They set to work immediatly to set the town back to its former glory.

FAGIN-Albert runs away after overhearing Charles and Caroline discussing how Laura feels ignored and left out because Charles spends so much time with him.

HARRIET'S HAPPENINGS-Harriet Oleson tries out her hand for journalism when her cousing comes to Walnut Grove and starts a newspaper with Harriet's column "Harriet's Happenings" in it. Charles steps in when she writes unpleasant things about his family.

THE WEDDING-Adam finally asks Mary to Marry him. She begins having second thoughts when her parents remind her of when she was a child.

MEN WILL BE BOYS(my personal favorite)-Albert and Andrew are tired of being treated like kids they want to be treated like "MEN." Charles and Jonathan trying to teach them a lesson permit them on a trip through the woods to sleepy eye by them selves. They figure it'll take the boys a few hours to give up. The fathers follow them all the way. The boys end up having an uneventful trip. If only the same could be said for Charles and Jonathan!

THE CHEATERS-Mrs. Garvey, embarrased by her son's grades in school, hires Nellie to tutor him. When Nellie reveals her secret on how she gets her grades she forces Andy to keep her secret.

BLIND JOURNEY(2 parts)-The blind school in Winoka is forced to close down. The citizens of Walnut Grove donate an old building for it to be transferred to. When Harriet Oleson decides she needs to be present to bring the children to Walnut Grove with Charles... well lets just say its an interesting trip!

THE GODSISTER-When no one is available to play with her, Carrie makes up a friend Alissa.

THE CRAFTSMAN-Albert starts to work for an old Jewish man as an apprentice. All the children start calling him "Jew-Lover." Even Laura is embarrased by him. He soon develops a pride in his work and the two become the best of friends.

BLIND MAN'S BLUFF-After he is involved in an accident, Jordan, Laura and Albert's friend, pretends to be blind to keep his parents together.

DANCE WITH ME-Laura and Albert become matchmakers just in time for the upcoming dance.

THE SOUND OF CHILDREN-When Mary find out she is pregnant and writes to her father-in-law she thinks he and Adam are becoming closer. But when she loses the child she finds that he was just interested in the baby.

THE LAKE KEZIA MONSTER-When Kezia refuses to pay her taxes Mrs. Oleson buys the land and Kezia who has no where to go somehow gets roped into being the Oleson's maid. Laura, Albert, and Andy are mad that Mrs. Oleson just bought the place. So they make up a tale of a monster to scare Mrs. Oleson and her rotten children off the place...

BARN BURNER-When the price of wheat begins to drop the farmers agree to not compete against one another and to charge the same price. When one of them breaks the bargain and Andy gets hurt Mr. Garvey takes action.

THE ENCHANTED COTTAGE-The Ingalls beging to hope that mary is regaining sight when she believe's that she can distinguish light from dark.

SOMEONE PLEASE LOVE ME-Charles is asked to prevent a divorce by the children of a troubled couple.

MORTAL MISSION-When sick mutton gets around Walnut Grove everybody gets sick. Jonathan and Charles are sent to go get some medicine in Sleepy Eye, but are robbed on the way back.

THE ODYSSEY-Dylon is dying of leukemia and wants, more than anything to see the ocean. Albert and Laura decide to run away and help him achieve his goal.
