Movie Reviews

A small treasure
grandma | United States | 10/09/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After many recommendations, on a trip to Mexico I bought the whole collection of DVDs by A LA VIBORA DE LA MAR for my grandaughter, as a means to encourage her Spanish...

What a wonderful gift it turned out to be!! The featured songs and poetry transported me back in time to my childhood in Mexico, and have certainly brought back many wonderful memories... As for my grandaughter (who is now 18 months old), she has been enjoying these DVDS for ten months now, and they are still her very favorite ones. She sings and dances to the beautiful songs... and is always walking from room to room whith the boxes of her DVDs under her arm.

We are all delighted to hear her sing the nusrey rhymes and try to say the poems and stories that form part of our Hispanic heritage. This is truly a small treasure.

My baby loves DO RE MI Niņo... and so do I!

"I discovered the A LA VIBORA DE LA MAR series when I received 123 CUENTAME UN CUENTO as a present for my newborn baby. A total delight! After that, of course, I bought the whole series, including this one. They are all beautiful, and involve a lot of language. The songs are catchy, yet soothing, the images are beautiful, the sound effects engaging...

One thing has to be said: these are full immersion DVDs, originally designed for Spanish speaking babies. Do not expect a Spanish course. However, I am convinced that this is way more usefull in terms of exposing little ones to the sounds of Spanish from early on. We have discovered that this helps immensely afterwards in terms of developing an "ear" for the language. (Needless to say, only native speakers are involved in this series).

I highly recommend every title in this collection for babies 0-4 years of age: great for hispanic families who will enjoy nursery rhymes from their heritage, and for non hispanics who wish to introduce their babies to the sounds of Spanish and to real Latin American culture.

PS: LOS COLORES DE RUFINO is our favorite one at the moment!

Excellent dvd series

"My cousin got a DVD by "A la vivora de la mar", Los colores de Rufino, as a joke and we ended up taking it as our son loved it. These videos are well done, with traditional Spanish songs and a lot of cultural references, which other DVDs don't have.

Son excelentes videos para asegurarnos que nuestro hijo este expuesto desde temprano a aspectos culturales latinoamericanos."
Very stimulating for our baby

"I received as a present the complete collection of A LA VIBORA DE LA MAR, and started with Aprendiendo Tempranito (2 to 24 months) followed by Do Re Mi Niño (6 to 24 months). Our baby is 6 months old and I have to say he absolutely loves them!!

Right from the start our baby responded to the images and music with a lot of attention and grateful surprise: he smiles, "talks" back, and kicks his legs in great approval... my husband and I have such a wonderful time just watching our baby enjoy the video, and the lyrics are so beautiful that we keep singing to him throughout the day!

It is quite evident that these videos are created for a specific age group, so I can't wait till our baby is ready for the other ones..."
