Really really weird with Dan Aykroyd leading the way in many ways.

Chevy Chase and Demi Moore star in this not-very-entertaining film using the 'city slickers trying to escape rural-hillbilly-horror' schtick. Many of the gags are based around "fun-house" special effects that might not be out of place for a Disney kid's-flick, but the adult nature of the humor and language (PG-13) means a clean miss for any target demographic. Aykroyd manages to turn stomachs with a few gags, but Chase and Candy's talents are wasted. Perhaps the only reason to see this movie would be for fans of Digital Underground and Tupac Shakur. They are unashamedly exploited here for their popularity in 1991 - the clip can probably be found on YouTube without the need to see the rest of the film.

With John Candy and Chevy Chase, it has to be silly stupid and funny.

0.2 stars, and I'm being generous. Zero laughs. One of the 10 worst movies I've seen.

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE? It should have been titled NOTHING BUT STUPID-- a total waste of time viewing it. With Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy and Demi Moore, it should have been good but it was very disappointing to say the least!

"Dan Aykroyd's only directorial effort is a genuine stink bomb. "Nothing But Trouble" finds a good cast wallowing in the New Jersey mire. Rarely has a comedy been so relentlessly unpleasant. (Incredibly enough, the original 1990 edit was even worse.) Aykroyd buries himself under tons of grotesque makeup, but fails to camouflage the sheer awfulness of this vanity production."
