Member Movie Reviews K. K. (GAMER) Reviewed on 11/23/2023... The poorly audio conversions did not match the actors and actresses. Had a few fight moments but otherwise fell short. Jim M. from WEST GLOVER, VT Reviewed on 4/27/2021... Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior (2003) is a vehicle for Tony Jaa’s athletic and fighting displays. If you can put up with many visually painful scenes of stunt guys, hopefully not receiving very painful injuries, then you might like this movie. Some of the most egregious scenes were actually repeated, repeated from several view points so you wouldn’t miss anything. I would have loved to see a closing note, “No people were harmed in the making of this motion picture,” but I didn’t see it in English. IMDb, “When the head of a statue sacred to a village is stolen, a young martial artist goes to the big city and finds himself taking on the underworld to retrieve it.” Of course, it is a Thai film so Petchtai Wongkamlao (as Mum Jokemok, one wonders if he ever uses the same name twice) has a prominent role, as none other than Humlae or George or Dirty Balls, apparently you may take your pick. His girl friend is cute little Pumwaree Yodkamol. The real heavy is “the stoma guy.” I had the impression it wasn’t special effects, but movie extras weren’t available. Unfortunately, the disk was very scratched, the first time I have received a truly damaged disc from SwapaDVD. No amount of cleaning or polishing helped. Most of the extras were lost. In the movie itself, about ten minutes a little over half way through was lost, but as far as I could tell the only thing of significance in the lost part was an irrelevant, gratuitous sex scene. 3 of 3 member(s) found this review helpful.
