WOW is the first word that comes to mind..I have adopted two kids so this really hits home for me. I thought it was very good. Reminded me alot of The Good Son.

Stalin in a skirt! 'The Bad Seed' gets a Russian accent. Dough-faced and raisin-eyed, Isabella Fuhrman plays the nine-year-old Esther as the ultimate victim of the Soviet welfare state. This ultra-malevolent little monster is adopted into the home of the two most naïve American parents ever. Kate and John (Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard), are maybe the dumbest couple you've encountered since Michael Jackson wed Lisa-Marie Presley. Having two kids of their own, alcoholism and grief over the loss of a third child is not enough for these two masochistic morons. Oh, and children are so cruel, especially to anyone 'different' and so, as rivals and enemies are bullied and/or dispatched, our little Russian monster destroys anyone who gets in her way while obeying all the well researched rules that form the Psychopathic Triad. The cast are good, as such. Farmiga gets to chew a lot of scenery. Kate's character--Yuppie wife with a tendency toward violent benders--is right out of Bukowski and she gives the role a kind of pathetic dignity, despite the way the plot progressively grows more and more absurd. Poor Peter Sarsgaard is the same in every movie he's cast in. He looks into the camera with those sad Swedish spaniel eyes and is, well, convincingly, soullessly pathetic. Director Jaume Collet-Serra, the hack who did such a good job of killing off Paris Hilton in 'House of Wax', knows how to press the right buttons, I guess, but surely he read the script and realized that the ultra-absurd twist at the conclusion is the daftest red herring and likely to piss off anybody who's spent their hard-earned money on it. If you want to be frightened by children see the original 'The Bad Seed' with Patty McCormick or 'Village of the Damned.' Pass on this dud!

Yes, there really, really is something wrong with Esther!! This Movie will keep you glued to your seat and Shock you with the totally unexpected twist at the end. I would highly recommend it!!

Totally awesome, I was so taken aback by this movie that it's not even funny. Beware though if you can't handle some blood, lol!

Very twisted movie. Makes most other "problem children" movies look like kiddy shows. Well written storyline with the twist from the darkest reaches of your imagination. WELL WORTH SEEING!!!
