I absolutely love, love, love this movie! I wish all men could be like Gerry, before he got sick and afterward. He is such a fun-loving, caring guy. The story goes through a woman's journey of losing her husband and with his help, trying to go on with life and to find love again. I laughed and cried with the characters when I watched it yesterday and today and wouldn't hesitate to watch it again.

OK being a dude, I had some problems with this movie. However there were also some good points.

The writing was good, and so was the acting. What was not good was the insane idea of "lets see ... I am going to die, so what I am going to do is torture my spouse by sending her a bunch of letters ... hopefully this will help her forget about me so she can hook up with someone else..." No guy would ever do this, first we just aren't that organized, and second, none of us want you to get over us... then again, I am not dying, so maybe I am wrong.

My wife really liked this movie, and I watched it with her twice, when she would start crying, I would point out the insanity of the idea, and she would tell me that I am an insensitive jerk, I would tell her I wouldn't make her relive my death once a week with a surprise letter of torture reminding her how much she loved me ... I am sure that the girls would like this movie, but if you force your man to watch it, be prepared for some laughing at inappropriate times.

This is about my favorite Gerard Butler film...and I'm a huge fan. between G.B. and Jeffrey Dean Morgan...I'm off to Ireland. You'll see G.B. as a musician. This is a wonderful love story, you will laugh and cry. you will be sad and happy. I love the ending. BTW this is not just chick flick there's lots for the men.
