"once again, something i normally wouldn't watch, turned out to be wonderful! i read reviews of Pretear as "an appocalyptic version of snow white". no. not really. i have to say it it not for children being that in Himeno's transformations she's naked. It does incorporate both Snow White and Cinderella, and you will notice this at once! it isn't always cheesy as some say, but does have very "wtf moments" and is exteremely hilarious!
*(5 as highest, 1 as lowest)*
*Quality: 5 very beautiful graphics. no freezing or chopping.
*Story: 5 wonderful story! though i hear it is very different from the manga, still great!
*Characters: 5 love the main character, Himeno. the knights are cool too. but why did they make Kei so vain?
*Music: 5 i love it! the intro and ending themes are beautiful. i regret that i can't find a cd of it! the background music it good too and fits with the mood.
*Extras: 2 the complete collection is only the Pretear episodes on 3 dvds. the first dvd has some previews. and that's all. you can change between english and japanese language.
*Replay Value: 5 very high! i've already watched it 3 times in the last 2 months!
Bottom Line- Get it!"

"This so called complete collection of Pretear is just the show only. ADV reauthored the original 4 DVDs into 3 discs for this collection by dropping all the on-disc extras. Nevetherness, this collection is an economical way to pick up this show if you don't mind about the loss of extras. On the bright side, this collection is thinpak'ed and comes with a chipboard collector's box, just like their other complete collections."
An awesome show! One of my top 5 favs!

"When people think of the magical girl genre of anime they tend to think of sailor suits, lame one-liners, and pathetically weak monsters (i.e. Sailor Moon). Pretear, on the other hand, breaks from the mold and breathes new life into the magical girl genre. Pretear follows the story of Himeno Awayuki as she struggles to fit in with her new and wealthy family after her father remarries. Meanwhile, in another world Leafenia, a terrible evil known as the Princess of Disaster breaks free from her prison to wreak havoc on Earth. Now the 7 knights of Leafenia must find the Pretear to help combat the evil forces at work. Himeno, of course, turns out to be the Pretear and must overcome her inner battles to save her home. Himeno transforms into the Pretear by "merging" with one of the knights through a process known as Preeting. This way she can command the knights power. The transformation scenes are nice and short and there are no silly poses or endless speeches given.
The animation is simply superb and the character/plot development will hook you in. There is also a healthy dose of romance and comedy that will make fans of the romantic/action/comedy genre very happy.
I HIGHLY recommend this show to all anime fans. I especially love the box this collection comes in and I plan on watching this anime over and over again.

"I bought this for my Friend for her birthday, and when I accidentaly let it slip that i was getting her this, she flipped. Once I got it in the mail she made me give it to her. She has fallen in love with it.
The story Is based around a girl named Himeno, who has just moved into her new house, with her Step mother, who has two daughters. Her Father, a drunken out of work romance novelist, searching for a nice home for her daughter, has just found a new love. One day, she meets,( or should I say, bumps Into,) a cute guy with a really bad temper. His name is Hayate, one of seven knights who protect "leafe," the earths Energy. They need the help of the Pretear to defeat the princess of disaster, who is after all the Leafe on Earth.
It just so happens that this Pretear is none other than Himeno, and soon she is called on to destroy The Princess of Disaster, if she can survive all of TPOD(princess of disaster) Seeds, mastering the Leafe of the knights, High school, and Her new Step sisters.
I give this Dvd collection a 4 out of 5. Great with Anime, not with extras. I suggest to buy another version if you want extras.
ALSO, please note that Manga fans will NOT have their recommended dose of Pretear. The manga and anime differ, so I would not buy this with High hopes that it will be just like the manga. Kei looks differentt, REALLY different.

A True Timeless Classic for all Time!!

"Personally, I'm a huge fan of anime - in it's original form... before it's been hacked at and mutilated by "Dubbers" - but I'm extremely picky in what I watch and what becomes my all time faves. I've sampled quite a few bad shows before and this isn't one of them. I'm not just saying that, I happen to be a really harsh judge. However, only a few people can understand its appeal. It's like opera (not to be taken in the literal sense) you either love it or you find it a waste of time and kinda boring. However, most people I talk to about it, love it.
I can see where people are coming from when they say that it's like Cinderella and Snow White, but personally, I think it's a bit far fetched to say that it is in fact: "like it." The similarities stop after the whole stepmother, stepsister's complex, the fact that there happens to be "seven" knights and the one tiny detail at the very end. No, they don't ride off into the sunset together on a beautiful white horse. When you put these similarities aside, you'll see where the creators changed it. Her father is still alive, her stepmother likes her - she just happens to be a little hard on her - and not once does a fairy godmother appear. There isn't a poison apple, golden pumpkin or a fancy-smancy ball. The closet you come to "prince charming" happens to be one of the Knights - I don't know about you, but I certainly don't remember Snow White hooking up with one of the dwarfs - so really, when it comes down to it, the plot it quite original. One of the things that was stoping me from buying this DVD was the fear that it was just going to be a rip off from the timeless classics, if anything, I think it puts those timeless classics to shame. It's ending is truly beautiful. The only thing I have against it is that there weren't more HimenoXHayate moments. Those two are up there with my all time favourite couple SakuraXSyaoran ... and that's an accomplishment. A big accomplishment!
Rating:- out of 5 stars.
Plot line: 5 stars (the story gets really deep at some points in the series. You can tell it wasn't just thrown together sloppily in one night.)
Visual affects: 5 stars
Romantic moments: 5 stars (The HimenoXHayate moments are simply gorgeous. They make me "Hanyaa" every time. -CCS fans will understand-)
Music: 4.5 stars (the music is beautiful and fits with the show all the way through it)
Replay factor: 6 stars (no that's not a typo. This is so totally watchable again and again and again. It's something you watch when you feel down, because it picks you right back up again. It's totally special. So worth what you pay for it. I'm never going to stop loving this show!)
So basically, if you're a fan of the cute animes like Cardcaptor Sakura, then you love this show. If you're not, you'll still most likely appreciate it. It's not annoying like Sailor Moon; it's for a much older audience then that. Children can watch this show and like it to, don't get me wrong. I guess what I should have said was that this show appeals to a much wider audience... although, to be absolutely truthful, it does have two characters that over exaggerate just a little, but it wouldn't be a proper anime if you didn't have those characters.
It really is a piece of art. Something that's going to be up there with my all time favourites till the day I die. I just hope you give it a chance. It may start off ordinary but it's far from it. Give it a go... I'm positive you won't be disappointed.
