Ahead of its time

"We know that the Western story is a part of our culture. Like Star Trek that was more about the " last frontier" inside , our predjudices and fears, than going into space, The Rifleman is more than just a story about a rancher in New Mexico in the late 19th century who can shoot a rifle faster and more accurately than a man with a " six gun". The Rifleman was ahead of its time. It is also the store a single parent. The more interesting part is that the parent is a Father. The chemistry between Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford makes this show a must for anyone who likes the Western and the close relationship that the parent and child share. The show is great and can be watched over and over. Take a chance and get the dvd especially if you have never seen it before. It's entertaining."

"The Rifleman was always a great show to watch. So far, I've enjoyed all of the boxed sets that I've bought. I don't usually watch westerns, but this became one of my favorite shows."
