A fair movie, mostly about the abolitionist John Brown from his earlier abolitionist group formation in Kansas until his raid on Harper's Ferry where he was captured, depicts his violent and terrorist-like ways. The events portrayed in this movie are reasonably accurate, but being made in 1940, it has a bit of a slant towards pro-slavery. Ronald Reagan portrays a younger George Custer and he has conflicting ideas about slavery. The rest of the Marines and their significant others seem to favor pro-slavery. Worth a watch just to understand the events if you're not familiar with what happened, but it's accuracy on the pro-slavery support by most of the characters is very questionable.

Don't let the photo fool you, this is only Sante Fe Trail and does not include The Outlaw.
