Shameful complete garbage from Bette Midler and Woody Allen, who likes to drag films onto agony. Avoid this like the plague!

Woody Allen and Bette Midler play a seemingly happily-married couple who go to the mall on their 16th (or 17th, depending on which spouse is doing the counting) wedding anniversary, where they discover that their idyllic life together is anything but. The best adjective that I can think of to describe the film is “exasperating,” although “unfocused” and “infuriating” also come to mind. The mind boggles at what exactly was going through co-writer and director Paul Mazursky’s head to cause him to have a mime (!) as a major character AND to have a teenage rap group featured prominently in a film that is obviously aimed at adults. Wrong-headed in the extreme; by the end of the film I wanted to punch Allen and Midler in their faces until they were unconscious. Avoid--ESPECIALLY if you’re a fan of either or both of the stars.
