Solid family (around teen) entertainment. It's a really shame about the Chloe character though, which cast a dark shadow on the side...

Overpriced!!!

"I give this two stars instead of one because I really love the show, but check out the prices, people! At the time of this writing, you can get each of the first five seasons for $24 a piece ($24 x 5 = $120) or you can buy this set of the first five seasons for $200. Hmmmmm."
Great purchase if you are newcomer to the series

"I am not an advocate follower of the show since I live in a rural area. Nor do I take time to comment on series. But happen to catch the show on a marathon over the holidays. I was so intrigued with the way the series built the characters and interactions with a comic superhero I followed when I was younger that I bought the 5 season disc set. The main characters Clark Kent (Tom Welling), Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) are outstanding in their performance of portraying these characters. Even the additions of supporting characters not know in the DC universe, yet, such as Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack). The emotions these actors portray are beyond what I have seen so far in a series based upon a comic book. The chemistry they create especially in love relationships are felt thru out the series. The writing and new approach of presenting a timed honored character is hard to describe other than a slam dunk on reaching all ages. And as stated below, I'll be anxiously awaiting to buy every series. Hopefully there will be many many more."
Meh... It's alright I guess..

"After spending a good 4 months on and off watching this show inbetween everything else that came in its way (I guess i was looking for excuses to stop) I found this show to be pretty good, just the annoying frequency on some characters got to me after a while.
I'm in the fifth season and I have to say the pragmatic "death" that happens in this season ( i wont spoil it for you, but if you've seen it you will know what im on about) is done with what is probably the best character this show had to offer, dispite their annoying habits on the screen too.
I shall probably buy season six and finish off the series, only because of the time I commited so far. I like how the writers have managed to expand on whats classically seen as background characters (and introduced new ones) but the script was pretty weak for dialouge, almost like you can tell they are reading off script prompters at some points! However, there were some golden points, dont get me wrong. I just found them outshined by the amount of crap involved. But then again, this might just be me being jaded.
Worth it if you are into the mindless drabble or teen dramas. Good in the large scheme of the overral story.
Did anyone notice the price hike on amazon for these five seasons? I think I bought it off here several months back for $150 (US)? Certainly not as expensive as its become!"

"In my opinion this is the only way to watch the Smallville series. Each week adds to the ongoing sub-plot, if you watch this series out of sequence or leave a long time between episodes, you lose somthing of the whole (in my opinion)
I highly recommended getting the entire series 1-5 and watch it in sequence."
A highly enjoyable new spin on the Superman legend!

"I know there are people who bash this show because of the liberties it takes with Superman's history. But I can't say I understand where these people are coming from. There have been many different incarnations of Superman over the decades and they all exist in their own little continuity. Each should be looked at on it's own rather than how it follows rules of predefined events in other incarnations of the character.
On it's own, Smallville is a fine TV show, and by far the best thing they could do to tell the story of a young Clark Kent. Tom Welling is perfect as the series star, and Michael Rosenbaum is just as superbly cast as his best friend/one day nemesis Lex Luthor. The rest of the cast is filled quite nicely as well, with believable actors taking up the familiar roles as well as some all new characters.
If you look at this show for it's own qualities rather than how it stands up to some image of what Superman should be, you will very likely enjoy every moment of this series."
