Member Movie Reviews Samuel K. (Solvanda) Reviewed on 11/25/2018... Based on one of my all time favorite books by Stanislaw Lem. Poland's most famous Science Fiction writer. I remember first seeing this film one snowy night in a small theater in Eau Claire, WI. A couple barely legals were trying to silently crack open beers behind us. After the entire movie was over my little sister turns to me and says, "So, what happened?" There is actually a lot going on here. Reading the book first would certainly help. There is one scene in this film, less than a second long, which, if you catch it, may be one of the most disturbing things you'll ever see. 0 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful.  K. K. Well...I didn't hate it. Exactly. Solaris is a plodding mind-bender that will cause you to furrow your brow a dozen times throughout the film. I've watched it twice and am still not 100% sure of what just happened. I got the basics though -- a man goes to a space station that is situated outside a planet called Solaris. The planet seems to have cognizance and is sending 3-D visitors to the space station. Unlike the rest of the crew members, George Clooney's character 'likes' his visitor and after killing her a couple of times, regrets it, and wants her to stay. I'll leave the ending up to you to interpret. No, I understand it. Mostly. Enjoy the movie but don't invest much money into it.
