The real reason to see this movie is the simply stunning musical score by Hans Zimmer. The beautiful orchestral music is sometimes interrupted by the vocals of Bryan Adams who is okay for the style that he's singing, but not really to my taste and can't compare to the genius of Hans Zimmer. I wish they had left it all to Hans Zimmer to score without vocals, but still it's a fantastic movie to watch for its music.
Music aside, it's really a pretty good film if you're open to American animated movies about animals. It has a lot more dignity than a lot of movies that carry that description being primarily a drama and mercifully forgoing the unbearable comic relief that often pervades the genre. It does have its moments of melodrama, but overall the emotion is pretty genuine, which is more than I can say about a lot of non-animated movies about humans. If you're the type of open-minded movie watcher who won't be biased against an animated movie that is arguably aimed at kids, I'd say give it a shot. I liked it.

This is a fantastic movie. It literally focuses on how this horse really does have spirit. A great movie for inspiration and a fascinating movie for young ones.

My horse Crazy daughter LOVES this movie. It is a story of the west being settled but from the view of the horse. He does some highly unlikely things, like gigantic jumps and single handedly stopping a train engine from being pulled up a hill. But it really is a tender story and personally ya gotta love an animal movie where the animals DON'T talk. :) This one you hear Spirits thoughts but that is all. A+ for Dreamworks.
