The Duff is your standard teen movie that has been overly done. Everything about the movie is unoriginal except maybe the word itself. DUFF= designated ugly fat friend. An offensive term that should offend, but yet the movie makes light of this by stating the total opposite. They argue that in every group there's this person that's not as good looking, not as smart, not as rich etc as their peers thus making them easier to approach to get information about the "hotter" friends. This is where Mae Whitman's character, Bianca comes in after being labeled the duff in her group. After examining the facts, Bianca decides to break away from her two close friends. The sad thing is through this "ordeal" Bianca turns to her neighbor to "un-duff" her. There was nothing wrong with Bianca, but according to Wesley, he does not know who she is because she dresses like Wreck it Ralph. I believe this was Bianca's identity; she's not your typical girly girl. The movie itself is not bad, but I felt like it sends the wrong message to young teens (girls and boys) that being yourself is bad and you must change your image to change people's perception of you.
