Tobe Hooper uses a comedic approach in this sequel to his original movie. Several parts of this movie seemed to drag, like Leatherface in the radio station, or Dennis Hopper running around with chainsaws in the underground amusement park. I suppose the scenes might have been more entertaining if so many of them hadn't already been stolen by other films years earlier (who were themselves inspired by Hooper's original film). Motel Hell, for example, had been made in 1980 and already did the 'chainsaw swordfight' gimmick. I didn't care much for the re-do of the 'grandpa with the hammer' routine. In isolation, fans of the Massacre property may really enjoy this movie, but when compared to other horror comedies (eg. Evil Dead 2), this one squanders a lot of potential. The rushed ending really hurts the film - almost as if it were a rough cut of the film. Very unpolished compared to the opening sequences - I suppose Hooper ran out of time and money?

What a load of bloody fun. This time out we get a comedy/horror show! But don't worry there's enough bloodletting to keep any gore-hound happy.
