10 Thriller Flicks of Public Domain Goodness

"Thrillers is a collection of 10 thriller movies that have only one thing in common: they are all public domain and as such it is possible for them to be presented in highly affordable collections. I paid $9.98 for my set and that comes down to about one dollar per movie. The way that movie tickets cost nowadays, you really cannot complain about this collection.
An added bonus of this collection is the fact that hardly any of these movies are available on other public domain collections. All in all, Thrillers is a great 10 movie collection.
Anyways, here is how I rate the movies in Thrillers:
Great:
Dominique is Dead (1979)
Cause For Alarm (1951)
Good:
Cry of the Innocent (1980)
The Man in the Attic (1953)
Night Tide (1961)
Average:
Hands of a Stranger (1962)
Fer-De-Lance (1974)
Slightly Honorable (1940)
Strange Illusion (1945)
Bad:
A Killing Affair (1985)

"ST CLAIR ENTERTAINMENT's THRILLERS is fairly typical of this movie multi-pack manufacturer. The three DVDs are single side recorded, there's some extras on each disc, transfer quality is acceptable and brief liner notes for all films appear on the box's back cover. There are some stand-outs among these nine public domain films.
SYNOPSES:
CAUSE FOR ALARM!-- A bedridden man is convinced his wife and his doctor are lovers who are plotting against him.
CRY OF THE INNOCENT-- A businessman suspects foul play in the plane crash that killed his wife and kids. Based on a Frederick Forsyth story.
DOMINIQUE-- A widower millionaire believes he's being haunted by his dead wife's spirit.
FER-DE-LANCE-- You may have heard of "Snakes on a Plane." Well, how about snakes on a sub? This one is pure made-for-TV mayhem!
HANDS OF A STRANGER-- Buried in the cast of this bizarre story of a classical pianist who receives a criminal's hands during transplantation surgery, is a very young Sally Kellerman (Hotlips Houlihan in the movie version of M*A*S*H).
A KILLING AFFAIR-- The widow of a murdered man takes up with a stranger that she believes is her husband's killer.
THE MAN IN THE ATTIC-- An unhappily married woman who has lost her son gets involved with a young man who works for her husband. The husband finds out, forbids them to see each other, so she stashes her lover in the attic.
NIGHT TIDE features Dennis Hopper in an early starring role. He's a sailor on shore leave romantically involved with a mysterious woman who portrays a mermaid at a local carnival. Unusually atmospheric, this was filmed on location in Malibu, CA.
STRANGE ILLUSION-- A man's dream that his mother falls in love with a killer who arranged his father's "acidental" death is seemingly coming true.
The nine movies in THE DETECTIVE COLLECTION (also from ST. CLAIR) have cops and private eyes played by the likes of William Powell, Charles Laughton, Glenn Ford and Jack Webb.
