"HORROR YEARBOOK REDRUM REVIEW
Vampyre Tales is a collection of Vampire inspired shorts with a wraparound story involving a vampire and servant. Debbie Rochon (The Blood Relic, Final Examination, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV) and Jim O'Rear (The Deepening, Mortal Kombat: Conquest" TV series, SeaQuest DSV), as Countess Plasma and servant Phlegm, provide great comedy moments in the wraparound segments with such fantastic chemistry that they make the corny jokes extremely funny.... especially Jim O'Rear knows how to overact in a great way so that every move becomes 100% pure horror camp.
There are 5 shorts, in total, made by directors Ted Alderman, Chuck Angel, Charles Card, Tiffany Warren, and New York independent film award winner Canella Williams. While all bear the mark of being filmed on a small budget, there is definitely a lot potential here.
"Way of the Vampire" involves two vampire brothers at each other throats when a girl comes between them and their bond. We learn this is just a part of a vicious circle. "Natural Selection" is probably the weakest link and sports a 2 minute poetry reading by a vampire?!?
"Blood Feud" stars Ted Alderman and Debbie D. It is about a man (Ted Alderman utilizing his stunt skills) with a secret to tell his girlfriend (Debbie D) when his ex unexpectedly shows up with a surprise of her own. "The Quitters" is about people attending an AA meeting for their addiction to alcohol...and maybe something else.
"Amount of Darkness" teaches you to be careful who you meet online and what you ask for because you just might get it. It has bizarre interaction with people I feel uncomfortable to look at, but I liked the ending, which involves a can of lighter fluid and box of matches.
Cult favorite Amber Newman also makes a guest appearance with Jim O'Rear and Debbie Rochon! Plus, an added bonus of comedy can be found by watching the entire end credit segment!"
