When he stops for directions he is attacked, but rescued in the nick of time by Valentine (Ron Silver), a self-styled vegetarian vampire from the turn of the century. Finding cold comfort in Valentine's assurance of protection, Zach runs for the first available train. VAMPIRE WARS: BATTLE FOR THE UNIVERSE

The year is 2210. The universe is overrun with hundreds of vampire species that prey upon humans in brutal, surprise attacks. That's when intergalactic Vampire Sanitation teams are called upon to lay waste to these vile predators. V-SAN crews, who've come to know their line of work as "the toughest job you'll ever hate," are comprised of rough and rugged men, women--and in the case of the Heironymous crew--a half human-half vampiress named Quintana (Natassia Malthe), who draws upon her psychic prowess to help the V-SANs track their quarry. Led by Captain Nicholas Churchill (Joe Lando) and second-in-command Damian Underwood (Dominic Zamprogna), the Heironymous team becomes the target of a deadly trap that has a much deeper and darker purpose. THE CASE OF THE WHITECHAPEL VAMPIRE

Brother Marstroke of the Hermitage of St. Justinian the Martyr has turned to Sherlock Holmes (Matt Frewer) to investigate a ghastly crime. An Anglican monk has been found dead in the abbey, the apparent victim of a vampire. The death has a horrifying resonance for Marstroke. Years before, an outbreak of rabies took its toll on his mission in British Guyana. Believing that bats were responsible, Marstroke ordered all of them destroyed. Then two monks were found dead, bearing the bite marks of a vampire. What's more, at each crime scene were macabre messages from Desmodo, a legendary vampire demon swearing to avenge the death of "his children." Has Desmodo struck again? As bizarre events unfold, Holmes also finds himself questioning what he holds most dear: logic. He may be a natural when it comes to solving crimes, but without divine intervention, how can he ever hope to solve one as unnatural as this?

Four low budget Vampire movies on one double sided DVD. The films included are:

"Shadow Zone: The Undead Express" (1996) Kid-friendly spooky TV movie (ala "Goosebumps") about a New York City teen who discovers a troop of vampires living in an abandoned subway tunnel. Slow moving and very talky, this bored my kids stiff in about twenty minutes.

"Nadja" (1994) David Lynch produced this black & white art house vamp flick in which Dracula's niece comes to New York City and strikes up a relationship with a bisexual night owl housewife, much to the consternation of her husband. I'm not going to lie to you folks, this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

"The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire" (2002) - Made for TV flick starring Matt "Max Headroom" Frewer as Sherlock Holmes, investigating a series of murders that may be vampire related. Not a bad mystery but it doesn't really belong on a "Horror" or "Vampire" movie set.

"Vampire Wars: Battle For The Universe" (2005) aka "Bloodsuckers," this is a fun SyFy Channel style gore fest that rips off the "Alien," "Blade" and "Underworld" series in a story about space faring vampire hunters. This was the best movie on this compilation, which says more about the other films present than about the quality of this particular flick.

Like most of these 4-packs, worth a look if you like cheesy "B" movies.

This box set is made up of 4 films of varying quality.

Shadow Zone: Undead Express is a kid's film that is actually not bad and has it's share of PG-13 scares. Not a bad film for the younger set and the young at heart.

Vampire Wars is pretty bad. It was one of those cash-in vampire flicks of the early 2000's that tries to put vampires in space and sets them against a bunch of cliche'd vampire hunters who would be better-suited in a John Carpenter flick. Transfer is pretty bad, too.

Nadja is a stylistic erotic vampire story in black and white that tells the tragic story of a couple of older vampires living in the modern world. Really the bright spot of this set since it's a hard movie to track down outside of the set.

Finally, The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire is part of the Hallmark Entertainment Sherlock Holmes series featuring Matt Frewer (Doctor, Doctor and Max Headroom) as the venerable detective tracking down a vampiric Jack the Ripper. A good add-on, but more of a detective thriller than a vampire movie...and would be better in the collection of Sherlock Holmes films that Frewer did.

All in all, Nadja is the backbone of this set and worthy of the credit on it's own. Undead Express and Whitechapel Vampire are worthy add-ons...kind of icing on the cake. And Vampire Wars is the heartburn you get if you watch too much. So, there you have it, in a nutshell. Or vein, as the case may be.
