My favorite Universal Monster is the Wolfman, so naturally I am partial to this film, I like that they went with an old-school approach. Lots of eye-opening sequences and special effects. Even the makeup looks old-school. Wasn't sure about Benicio del Toro at first,but he has this lon chaney, jr quality about him. maybe that was the point. Pplenty of gore and nice sound effects, too. Anthony Hopkins , is Anthony Hopkins. So no disappointments there. Original and compelling. Hopkins is up to his usual impeccable standards, while Tel Toro and Blunt give great performances as the tortured souls most deeply affected by the curse.
