Prequel to the X-Men saga takes us back to the early 60s, when Charles Xavier and Eric (Magneto) Lensherr were friends and eventually teammates. With the help of the U.S. government, they recruit the first squadron of X-Men and then battle against the Hellfire Club, who want to use the Cuban Missle Crisis to kick off a nuclear war.
I had my doubts about this one since it had an entirely new cast (except for Hugh Jackman, who gets a brief, hilarious cameo as Wolverine that lasts about ten seconds) and a new setting but this turned out to be a damn cool flick. It may be the best X-Men movie yet.

Good movie that sets up the story line on how everything was started in the beginning. The movie does a good job on staying close the comic book story lines.

Love this movie! I am not a big fan of comic books or superhero stories at all, so I surprised myself when I really enjoyed the story line and the great acting by all new and young cast of this "restart" of the X-Men saga, where you learn about the origins of both Professor X (Charles Xavier) and Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr) and how it all began. It's a little surprising to see Kevin Bacon as the really bad guy Sebastian Shaw, but he is also very effective in his role as a head of Hellfire Club that's trying to start a nuclear war and take over the world for the mutants.
The only bad acting was done by January Jones as Emma Frost - really wooden! Otherwise the movie is full of action and interesting characters! If you're an X-Men or Marvel fan, you should not miss this one!
