One of the better comic book movies I have seen. Great acting, and this one ever has a story line. The actors make it believable.

Special effects are melded with live action like no other series of movies I've witnessed. The attack on the President presents the limitations that conventional weapons would have on the X-MEN like the Nightcrawler. Enjoyed every minute!!

THE BEST REVIEW FOR X-MEN 2 FOR FANS WHO HATE X-MEN 2

"I understand, what Bryan singer did with the x-men movies. He wanted it to appear as realistic as possible. His "star trek" approach will either make or break fans. This is because with a "star trek" approach you loose a lot of potential for some very epic battles and action sequences but what Singer wanted to so was make the film BELIEVABLE. In the making of the original film, you can hear the producers claim, we wanted to do a "star trek approach" and not "star wars." At first I was one of thos fans whose blood boiled when I saw what they did to the character Rogue. In the comic Rogue is a strong and wild spirit with the ability to fight and strength that is equal to super woman. She is tormented by her own inner conflicts because she came to the x-men as a former villain. This made her very untrustworthy to the x-men and she was haunted with guilt for being a villain. Her greatest sin was purposely using her power to hurt another. Her whole purpose in joining the x-men was for one thing: REDEMPTION. If you understand the film business, you will know that the film makers have to do the most marketable approach, meaning one thing, WOLVERINE HAS TO BE THE MAIN CHARACTER BECAAUSE HE IS THE MOST POPULAR CHARACTER. I understand how the film makers will want to include other characters but it's going to be impossible to include their entire past histories! So we have to say goodbye to rogue's complex origin and play off entirely on her traumatizing incident she expiereanced when she first kissed a boy. The film makers won't have enough budget or run time to tell a story of how Rogue was a villian, took ms.marvel's powers. Etc. etc. Her southern accent is gone and I can guess the reason being that it would distract audiences. I consider myself one of the biggest x-men fans ever but when it comes to the film medium changes have to be made. Some people complained about how bobby drake (ice man) never iced up fully. It makes sense in singer's world if you think about it. If he ices up, his clothes are wet, how will he be mobile?, etc. etc. when bobby drake finally iced up in x3, it was pretty lame. So we have to thank singer for really trying to have these films grounded in reality. Many people also complain at how cyclops isn't in the forefront of the story line and to them I say this: hey, in the 80's cyclops was barely in x-men and those were some of the best issues of all time, so to those people who think he's the permanent leader all the time, you're wrong. And maybe he didn't have a super crucial action role but he does have a very emotionally climatic performance in the end. the way he reacts to jean's death , he stole the show! My only complaint for this movie is the scene when the the jet is falling to the earth and magneto "catches the plane." How in the hell would magento know exactly where the plane was going to crash when a jet travels faster than any land vehicle? He just so happened to be in the forest right when the plane crashed, yeah right! Many people didn't catch on to this but for me that was a big error. As far as what is great about the film, is characterization. We get more wolverine, more storm, more xaivier, the impeccably performed nightcrawler, and the hateful william stryker. I can forgive them making William Stryker Wolverine's architect (in the comic he's a hateful preacher and has nothing to do with wolverine) because the payoff is fantastic. His relentless hate towards mutants is portrayed well and having him mutilate and experiment on his own son to create him into a mind controling device was a good twist (in the comic he kills his son and wife at birth and created the mind controlling device himself.) the cyclops character did a good job reacting to jeans death too. His desperation was truly felt, even though he wasn't in the film as long as some people claim he should have been. Despite that crucial flaw with the jet falling to where magneto was, this movie is near flawless. It's ALMOST just as good as the first film and one of the best comic book films ever. 4.5/5"
