Zoids: Chaotic Century is actually the first season of this mecha series; the continuity previously released in the U.S. was the second season, called Zoids Zero in Japan. While fleeing from bandits, impulsive teenager Van... more » finds two mysterious pods in a ruined fortress: one hatches a Zoid he dubs Zeke; the other, an amnesiac girl named Fiona. Zeke is an "organoid," a Zoid that can bring ruined machines back to life. The humans and their Zoids embark on a series of adventures across the deserts of the planet Zi. They make a few friends, but spend more time outwitting enemies who want to take Zeke from Van. The obvious target audience is elementary school boys, who'll buy the toys, and the show really pushes the products. The CG animation of the supposedly enormous dinosaur-like machines is curiously weightless. (Rated G, suitable for ages 8 and older: mecha vs. mecha violence) --Charles Solomon« less
"*no spoilers at all*This is one of the most misunderstood underrated anime shows I ever seen. No anime has surprised me as this one has. I expected it to be some lame child anime but I was so wrong. An original adventure mecha anime, with unique mecha designs. You can't compare this show to any other, maybe not even the other Zoid shows. Its one of a kind. Some of the mecha are classic designs from the old early 80s model kits, while theres some new ones. The creativity of the story & characters impressed me alot. Its got many plot twists and the characters and even better. Some stuff may seem cliche but that doesn't bug me. Also, the CGI blends in GREAT. That type of animation and cel-shaded type CGI blends so good but I must admit the first 13 or so eps don't look all that great. The CGI improves alot around ep. 15 though. This show has alot of replay value, you can watch it over and over. Buy the first 2 volumes, at only around $10 for 6 episodes per DVD thats a steal! If you liked the show stick with it cuz it only gets better, the 3rd volume will improve even more. You want something diffrent right? So get this."

"I saw Zoids once. I thought it was cool. Then, I heard of a different series of Zoids. So I watched it, and it was better. Then I found out that what I thought was 'Zoids' was really 'Zoids Zero,' the second season. The second series that I saw, the 'Chaotic Century,' is actually the first series. 'Zero' is just a happy ending.
If you liked 'Zoids Zero,' you'll LOVE 'Chaotic Century.' GET IT DARNIT!!!
NOTE: After recieving this DVD, I became aware that this DVD does not, unfortunately, contain the original Japanese. What you saw on Cartoon Network is what you get, straight down to the horrible opening. The english voice-acting is, however, very decent, and there are rather few lines that appear to be added for the sake of the American children. Overall, it is still worth picking up."

"Zero Centery is realy a kids show compared to this. tho the animation is not as well done this series even starts off better with bandits and zoids arnt restricted at all. the pilots also show some signs of life instead of the some ruitene over and over (like bit and leena fighting, backdraft showing up in almost every fight, jamie crying over his zoid.) the charcters even seem to learn.
there is also no actural danger in 0 most likly the worst that would happen is losing your zoid to the bd or a broken bone. in cc you could actully die. they actually are fighting for somting not just to be the best pilots but to save the planet."
Highly Under Rated

"I won't cover the story line or characters as that has already been done, and done quite well. I will say this series is highly under rated because many people who dislike the "battle of the week contest" type of anime got turned off by the other Zoids series. Zoids Chaotic Century, and it's second season, Zoids Guardian Force, are NOT like the other Zoids series. Do not hold the other series against it.The story is interesting and runs through the entire series, even though there are stand alone episodes. The characters are fascinating and well rounded, and the story is told with humour as well as with drama. The CGI sequences meld in with the anime almost seamlessly, unlike some other series I have seen which use both. The series ends with a nice resolution to the many story lines, even though I REALLY didn't want it to end.True, this series won't float everyones boat, but I for one have been waiting for almost a year for it to come out on DVD."
Very Underrated

"Well I'll start off by saying I've been watching this show for about 4 years straight, and I think I can finally say I'm starting to get tired of it.
This is a grossly underrated anime series with great storytelling; incredible character development; really great villains (Hiltz, Raven, Prozen); and a believable, realistic plot. It's extremely enjoyable and yes, you really can watch this show over and over again and get a kick out of it. It's just that good. Pick this one up if you get a chance."
