Battle Royale is amazing. I'm shocked no one else listed it. Run Lola Run, Suicide Club, and 13 Games of Death are also pretty good. Last Edited on: 2/22/10 6:04 PM EST - Total times edited: 1 |

Another worthwhile topic might be foreign films that just do not hold up. I just watched "Le Cercle Rouge" on Netflix and it has a sparkling reputation. It makes mediocre American film noir movies look good in comparison. The totally unrealistic scenes are too many to recount, but just one is a howler. Two mob guys get bumped off in a muddy roadside area. The cops quickly pull a plaster cast of another car's tire tracks certain that it carried the murderers. But wait, it gets better. From just the tire tracks they are able to determine that the car was a '66-'67 Ford, Chevy or Plymouth! Un, I dunno. You do the math. Last Edited on: 4/13/10 2:41 PM EST - Total times edited: 1 |

Persona by Ingmar Bergman is my absolute favorite film.
I also love all of Godards 60's work especially Pierrot le fou and Vivre sa vie.
More recently I saw The White Ribbon and thought it was fantastic. |

La Dolce Vita, Il Postino, Jules et Jim, Pierrot le Fou, Le Sang d'un Poete. There are so many others. I'm a real sucker for French and Italian films from the 60s. |

Brotherhood of the Wolf.......by far! I love everything about that movie: the plot, the costumes, the fight scenes. And it has an amazing soundtrack. I could watch that movie every day of the week. |

Updates for me. My favorite films from other countries (but English language soundtrack):
Favorite foreign films non-English language:
I also watched another very good one a couple of months ago. A film from 1988 from The Netherlands called Spoorloos (aka The Vanishing). It instantly secured a spot on my favorite foreign films list as well. Check in and update those lists people.
