OK folks. Let's hear your top 10 Horror movies. Feel free to come back and update your list if you need to. It will help us see what other members like and maybe even give us ideas of what to check out next! Here goes my list in alphabetical order: Alien (1979) Black Christmas (1974) Carnival of Souls (1962) The Descent (2005) The Exorcist (1973) Halloween (1978) Let the Right One In (2008) The Mist (2007) Psycho (1960) Spoorloos [Dutch] aka The Vanishing (1988) The Thing (1982) I know...I know. I originally said top 5 but there are just way too many good choices. I'm making it top 10. Feel free to add to/update your lists. Honorable mention: The Fly (1986) Ginger Snaps (2000) Pumpkinhead (1988) Session 9 (2001) :-) Last Edited on: 7/3/12 9:17 AM EST - Total times edited: 17 |

Hello Tiffany, Regarding Aliens have you seen the first one? I really enjoyed the first 3 (but you must see Alien 3 in the 30-minute longer Collector's Edition cut. That version, while still not what David Fincher really envisioned, fills in a lot of the plot holes and is much better than the chopped-up theatrical release). The Alien movies definitely cross genres. I guess I always thought of the first one (Alien) as the horror movie. It's a lot like a haunted house in space, ie., what the heck is this horrifying creature we are dealing with? The second one (Aliens) always seemed more like a war movie in space. Just my take... By the way...loved them both. Last Edited on: 1/24/09 10:28 AM EST - Total times edited: 7 |

I agree. Alien was scary. I watched it again the other day and am still amazed at how realistic the movie is even though it is almost 30 years old. But Aliens was always scarier to me. More Aliens to run from I guess. I was never a fan of the 3rd but I will have to check out the director's cut. Maybe that will make a difference for me. Thanks! |

1. Candyman - Fabulous movie adapted from a Clive Barker short story 2. The Haunting of Hill House- Based on Shirley Jackson's book, this is a great movie! One of the best book to movie adaptions I have seen. 3. Night of the Living Dead (remake) - I love this version of the orginal, which is more based on the screenplay of NOTLD instead of the actual movie. The actor who plays Ben played as the Candyman as well, and does a great acting job. 4. Alien - A movie that truly frightend me. 5. The Descent - Great movie.

There are just too many great horror movies to chose from. What are some of the most under-rated horror movies in your book? Mine are: Ghost Ship The Town That Dreaded Sundown Every movie made by Hammer Studios Malevolence <--- this is a must see for the "stalker" fan. Witchboard The Wishmaster series Anything by Clive Barker for sure.
