Once a week, my family likes to watch a movie together. Does anyone have any recommendations? Some of our favoritesjust off the top of my head: Other than newer releases, could anyone recommend any good, wholesome movies? I've looked on the Feature Films for Families website, but there are just WAY too many movies there. lol Thanks! :) |

Funny, thoughtful foreign film. I also liked The Cat in the Hat, with Mike Meyers and Dakota Fanning. There was one or two very slightly racy scenes (The Cat pretends he's looking at a center fold picture of Dakota's Mom) and a mild sexual double entendre - but it is a very funny, clever children's movie adults would like. | |||

We like Ella Enchanted alot. We also liked Cat in the Hat (I even have this one on my shelf). Any of the Pixar movies are great...Finding Nemo, Meet the Robinsons, Shrek. They are favorites in our house. |

I loved the Land Before Time as a kid, and even now, I never get tired of it. Dutch is a great movie that is not widely known about. It is really funny! Home Alone one and two are great as well. Disney movie Hocus Pocus is a good Halloween movie. For older children, Persepolis is a great movie based on the books that will lead to numerous disscussions after the movie ends. According to IMDB,"Poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution." Ghostbusters is popular as well. |

Well, I thought of some more. The Absent-Minded Professor - the old Disney one. Actually, any of the older Disney live-action movies are good Babe Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang |

I echo Pixar- Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, etc. I just watched Meet the Robinsons this week and my family loves it! It isn't actually from Pixar, but it could be, it's so similar in style and animation. |

Some of the old classics are the best, like The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), The Swiss Family Robinson (1960), The Great Race (1966), Captain Blood (1935), and always: the irrepresible Marx Brothers (best ones are Monkey Business, Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera & A Day at the Races) |

Feature Films for Families are great. I think it's wonderful that you have a movie night each week with your family. I realized recently how much I was missing in my children's lives from working so much. Though the finances have suffered, I've cut out one of my jobs, and thanks to SADVD, we've been watching more movies together, too! |

Wedo the same thing and watch movies as a family. Our kids range from ages 4-23 years. Our recent faves are: The Astronaut Farmer, The Last Mimzy, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Bridge to Terabithia and Shiloh (orig. and Shiloh Season). We don't "do" PG-13's even though 3 of our daughters are 13, 15, and 16. Some of their faves are Hook, Jumanji, Holes, Snow Dogs, Cool Runnings, Princess Diaries, Secondhand Lions, Facing the Giants, Princess Bride and Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory (the orig!). As a family (the age 13's and up) the best movies we have seen in 2008 are Flywheel (by the same people who made Facing the Giants) and Second Chance. We also LIKED The Ultimate Gift a lot but LOVED the book (much diffrerent and better than the movie!), Dawnie Campbell
