I saw a movie on TV several years ago but didnt catch it from the beginning so I don't know the name of it or who the star is. She looks like a "Lyndsay Wagner" type actress.  Anyway, this couple buys a home in a New England type town and upon exploring the attic this woman sees a dress on a dummy and puts it on. She then gets transported back in time (1800's or so) but only for a short time. A after several times of doing this she ends up falling for a local artist, a man who ends up in trouble.  Desperate to help him she tries to find out how he dies so she can go back in time to prevent it.  Sound familar to anyone??

Someone found it on www.IMDB.com. its  "the two world's of jenny logan" and it does star lindsay wagner.  I posted it this morning and within 5 minutes someone answered me.  its a cool movie.
